Ms. Adamse

Hello My Name Is...

Ms. Amanda Adamse

I am Amanda Adamse and I am the art teacher at Danby-Rush Tower Middle School.  I have been an art teacher for 12 years and I have been an art teacher at Jefferson R-7 since 2005.

I grew up in Washington, Missouri and graduated from Washington High School (where I was also a Blue Jay!) in 1998.  I went to the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri to study art education and graduated Cum Laude, earning my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education degree in 2002.  In addition to my Bachelor's Degree, I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Missouri Baptist University in 2011.  I am currently taking additional courses at MBU in order to earn my Psychological Examiner's Certification which I hope to complete by the end of 2015.  I am certified to teach K-12 Art and in 7-12 School Guidance and Counseling in the State of Missouri.

In my free time, I enjoy walking at the parks in St. Louis, drawing (either photo-realistic portraits, short-pose figure drawings, and henna designs), yoga and meditation, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.  I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family whenever possible, as well as traveling (I am a big fan of road trips!)

I love teaching art and I really enjoy working with adolescents.  My favorite things to teach in art class are drawing and ceramics lessons; however, I feel it is important to give students as much exposure and experience to working with as much art media as possible.  Providing my students with a well-rounded art education involving art history, production, aesthetics, and art criticism is what helps students gain a strong appreciation for the visual arts.
